Hi everyone, Today I suddenly received an order that the court denied my Application for Further Appellate Review. It confused me because the court granted my motion to allow NAACP for filing amicus curiae brief on or before August 16, 2008. I called the office clerker, Susan Mellen, and she told me that the deadline for NAACP is still August 16, 2008. If the court receive the amicus curiae brief before that time, the court will treat it as a Motion for Reconsideration. Apparently, it is an signal that the court does not want NAACP expressing opinions on case, or the court does care if any civil right organization involved. I do feel, and always feel, we (the minoraty) are so weak, and so helpless and hopeless. The court just could do whatever they want without any hesitate. Regards Yong |
